At Grothouse Lumber we can cut out stoves, sinks and faucets of all shapes and sizes. The inside of undermount sink cut outs can be shaped with any desired edge profile. Undermount and overmount sink cut outs as well as stove cut outs are covered under our lifetime warranty. Undermount sink cut outs require the client to supply the template that arrived with the sink, or the actual sink if custom made or no template was provided. Faucet cut outs are relieved to permit standard plumbing regardless of the thickness of the counter. Drop in stove cut outs, overmount sinks and faucet cut outs can be accomplished with client supplied dimensional drawings.

Drain boards
At Grothouse Lumber our drain boards are not only routed, but sloped as well to permit water to drain into the sink area. Drain boards can be located on either side of the sink or both sides. This option requires our permanent marine finish to be covered under our lifetime warranty.

Trash Holes
Trash holes can be cut into the surface of any style butcherblock we offer. Trash holes can be open, with no lid, or have a custom crafted lid. The lid can be constructed with a finger-grip, inset hardware, or raised handles. Inset hardware is available in many metal finish options and drops neatly for a flush surface.

Mitered Corners and Flush Joints
Portable on-site equipment cannot be calibrated to match the accuracy and craftsmanship of joints created by Grothouse Lumber. All joins and mitered corners can be crafted so your counter arrives ready to install. The joints arrive with hardware routed underneath the counter. The hardware permits easy adjustment on site to ensure a perfect fit.

Knife Slots and Integrated Knife Blocks
Custom designed knife slots and blocks can be integrated into your piece. This design requires a detailed drawing for quoting purposes. The knife slots can be cut into specific locations on the top, or applied in a block configuration attached to the piece.

Juice or Blood Grooves
Juice grooves can be placed in any configuration on your piece. The grooves can be configured in a variety of shapes, bordering the entire block or encompassing select areas or sides of a block. The groove is approximately 3/8” deep unless specified otherwise. Combining juice grooves with an ornate edge treatment creates a dramatic effect as shown in the photo on the left.

Expanded Corners
Expanded corners are a feature typically on island tops and found in the most discriminating homes. Grothouse Lumber crafts this complex feature with continuous edge profiles. This feature requires the hands of the most skilled craftsmen to produce. The result is an impressive architectural detail, with an edge detail that flows continuously around the corners.

Rounds Arcs & Roman Arcs
Arcs and curves add a distinctive functional design to wood countertops. Curves and arcs can be shaped to any size desired. Roman arcs add an additional design element by reducing the arc length to create a shorter curve as shown in the photos on the left. An ornate edge profile combined with a Roman arc is visually dramatic as shown in the photographs on the left. Round pieces can be manufactured to any diameter circle you desire.

Inlays & Patterns
Grothouse Lumber can create pieces with custom inlays and pattern designs to facilitate designs that do not conform with typical geometric shapes. Detailed drawings and extended lead-times are requested for this manufacturing process.

Cooling Rods Trivets
Trivet rods are stainless steel and removable for easy cleaning in the dishwasher. Each pattern measures approximately 13” square. Sets can be added for a larger surface area.

Chicago Rail aka Bar Rail
Chicago Rail is often added to bars to give the bar patrons a place to lean and to prevent drinks from being spilled on the patrons if the bartender tips the drinks toward the patron. This adds a very nice classic touch to any bar.
