Kitchen & Bath Design News
The March edition of Kitchen & Bath Design News included one of Grothouse Lumber's End Grain Teak blocks in an article
on countertop trends. The 4" thick block, part of a design by Kirsten
McElwaine, featured an integrated knife slot for storing cutlery, making
it an ideal addition to a functional kitchen space. To make it a comfortable
food preparation area, the block was also set lower than surrounding countertops. |

This Old House
An end grain Sapele mahogany island top was featured in
the January / February 2010 edition of This Old House magazine.
The top was included as part of a budget renovation located in
Newton Centre, MA. The 1915 Dutch Colonial Revival was completely
renovated as part of the 30th anniversary season of This Old House.
The centerpiece was the inclusion of an end-grain Sapele mahogany
top on a small but functional island in the kitchen. |

The Countertop Book
Grothouse Lumber was included in the recently published
Countertop Book, written by Mary Anne Piccirillo and published
by Schiffer publishing. The book, which is a resource for individuals
researching various countertop options, features a wide range of
wood surfaces manfuactured by Grothouse. |

Beautiful Kitchens
A laser-engraved plantation teak cutting board manufactured
by Grothouse is featured in the December 2009 edition of Beautiful Kitchens.
The publication included an article on de Giulio Kitchen Design
of Illinois. Grothouse supplied the engraved
teak cutting boards for use in a number of de Giulio's kitchen
designs.

Lehigh Valley Style
Lehigh Valley Style magazine from
October 2009 featured a number of wood tops manufactured by Grothouse
Lumber.
The article, which provided guidance to readers planning to renovate
their kitchen from scratch, included photography of Grothouse Lumber
wood counters and island tops. |

The October 2009 edition of Custom Home Magazine
featured a profile of Grothouse Lumber. The article discussed the history of Grothouse and included mention of one particularly memorable project that was 6-inches thick, 54-inches wide and 22-feet long.

in the Rodale-published book Whole Green Catalog: 1000 Best
Things for You and the Earth. The book includes tips, reviews,
and advice on ways that consumers can minimize their impact on the
environment. Grothouse's wood tops were featured as the original
green countertop surface. |

Connecticut Cottages & Gardens
The July/August 2009 edition of Connecticut
Cottages & Gardens featured a custom hickory and walnut checkerboard
top manufactured by The Grothouse Lumber Company. The 2 1/2"
thick top, designed, by Mary Mitchell of MES Mitchell Interiors,
featured a medium roman ogee edge detail and a food-grade mineral
oil finish. |

Better Homes & Gardens Beautiful Kitchens
Beautiful Kitchens featured a Grothouse
Lumber wood island top in the Summer 2009 edition, in an article
on timeless looks in the Kitchen. The featured Brazilian Cherry
island was designed as part of an English cottage kitchen. |

Design New Jersey
Design New Jersey featured a 3"
thick end grain island top in a random mix of Wenge, Zebrawood,
and Sapele Mahogany. The island included an unDesign New Jerseydermount
copper sink and was finished with a food grade mineral oil, making
it a beautiful and functional surface for entertaining and food
preparation. |

NKBA Profiles
Kitchen & Bath designer Jennifer Gilmer, CKD,
was featured in the Spring edition of Profiles magazine
as the winner of the Pinnacle of Design award. Jennifer's winning
design included a 4" thick round edge grain Walnut top by Grothouse
Lumber that was part of a moveable table that could be used both
indoors or outdoors on the deck. |

Midwest Living
Midwest Living's March/April 2009 edition
featured an end grain butcherblock that was integrated as part of
a bold, bright kitchen design. The two-tone checkerboard block helped
tie together yellow and dark brown cabinetry used within the kitchen.

House Beautiful recently featured Grothouse
Lumber products in their February 2009 issue. The magazine provided
a roundup of best products for the kitchen and included three of
Grothouse Lumber's wood countertop designs in the listing. House
Beautiful is devoted to covering the latest in interior design
and decorating trends for both professionals and casual readers. |

as part of an 18th century farmhouse kitchen design in the February
2009 edition of Country Living. The Burmese teak counters
were the perfect fit for the relaxed, functional design by Nancy
Taylor. |

A large wenge and maple checkerboard by Grothouse
was included as part of a wrap-up on top industry trends for 2009.
The large island — nearly 10-feet long and 71" wide —
was arced on one side to follow the contours of the kitchen. |
