Below are some samples of end grain wood countertops and butcherblocksmanufactured by the Grothouse Lumber Company. End Grain construction is incredibly durable, stylish and functional. It is considered to be the best surface for cutting, chopping, and direct food preparation. Cutting boards of yesteryear were produced in this construction style for a reason: because they last. Knives stay sharp far longer on these surfaces because the edge slips between the fibers rather than slicing across them. To learn more about this construction style, read our end grain description.
