Topic: Mary Jo will take us on an exploration of the Hafele spaces introduced at this year’s Kitchen and Bath Show, incorporating beautiful universal design for the way we live and the people we are designing for today, and take away products and concepts that can enrich your work.
Mary Jo was instrumental in designing the Hafele 2013 KBIS Universal Design Display with Plain & Fancy Custom Cabinetry.
Mary Jo Peterson is an award-winning designer whose work has earned national recognition including induction into the National Kitchen & Bath Association’s Hall of Fame. With specific expertise in universal design, she has authored multiple books on the subject and is a frequent national speaker and educator.
Topic: By numbers, Houzz may be one of the least used social networks, especially when compared to the big names like Pinterest and Facebook. However, Houzz’s intensely focused remodeling community makes it one of the most valuable resources for our business. In this presentation, I will show you how you can take advantage of this powerful network as a sales and marketing tool.
Eric Schimelpfenig, AKBD is the founder of SketchThis.Net. Eric has utilized 3D technology throughout his career. He has taken pencil and paper operations and converted them to 3D, worked with Google on Sketchup’s development, created 3D content for companies large and small, and taught countless students all over the country.
SketchThis also launched a kitchen design plugin for Sketchup. This plugin is a cloud servicethat plugs directly into Sketchup and provides a rich catalog of cabinetry and interior components for designers to design faster with Sketchup. What used to take hours takes minutes with this plugin.
He is also an active columnist in Kitchen & Bath Design News, is often hired to teach Sketchup, and speak on emerging technologies for the design field. He is currently touring the country on a three year teaching tour with Ellen Cheever and Kitchen & Bath Design News.
Eric also runs social media efforts for KESSEBÖHMER (Branded Clever Storage) in the United States and promotes the brand on many different social media platforms.
Topic: Intro to using Wood Countertops and Butcherblocks in your designs: This short seminar will help you understand applications for improving your designs using wood surfacing. Offer your customer’s a better design with the functional beauty of wood countertops. This seminar will cover the basic technical details you need to design and specify wood surfacing.
Paul Grothouse is the owner and founder of Grothouse Lumber and Paul Grothouse Furniture. Paul is an engineer who has been a woodworker and millworker for over 30 years. In addition he specializes in consumer product design, manufacturing process design and quality control. The unsurpassed quality, design and construction capabilities of Grothouse Lumber are a result of his extensive experience in woodworking and engineering. Consistently featured at speaking events, in print and on television Paul is widely recognized as a leader in both the woodworking field and the kitchen and bath industry.
Paul is committed to educating young craftsmen and developing quality wood workers for future generations. He serves as Chairman of the Cabinetmaking and Millwork Occupational Advisory Board for Lehigh Career and Technical Institute, one of the largest career and technical institutes in the United States.
Topic: LED lighting in kitchen applications: Come hear about the latest trends and developments in LED lighting and learn some good tips for designing with LED lights.
Daniel Tripp is the Product Marketing Manager for Häfele America, where he heads up the product program efforts for the Kitchen industry. Daniel is an industry expert on LED lighting and its application to the kitchen industry. He also brings an International viewpoint from Hafele with its European roots and annually attends several major trade shows in the US and Europe.
Topic: Design and finish trends relative to decorative hardware for the kitchen industry. Greg will be attending Interzum this month which should also help give him some sense of European trends that may translate to the US, if not immediately in the near future.
